Maine State Music Theatre Volunteering

    MSMT is fortunate to have many active volunteers through our Angels, Ushers, Board of Trustees and Advisory Board of Trustees. Each of these individuals makes us a stronger organization. If you have time to volunteer, become a member of the Angels or an Usher. There is information below on becoming an Angel, or ask one of the ushers about their experiences.

Ushers

    At each performance, MSMT relies on its group of volunteer ushers to greet the audience and help them find their seats. Ushers can also earn points towards complimentary tickets. We currently have around 250 volunteers, some come once to each show, others are there every night. They make up a diverse group of people who love the theater and love commu- nity service. We have students, teachers, doctors, families, retirees, and the list goes on and on, even a recent Olympic torch bearer!

    Requirements: Ushers must be 14 years of age or older (we have one who will turn 91 this year!) in order to usher by themselves. Ushers between the ages of 10-13 must be ac- companied by a parent or legal guardian.

Ushers must attend a 1 hour training session. Trainings will be announced in late May, 2008.

Angels

Want to have fun? Join us and show your support as an Angel Volunteer, helping MSMT in small, but important ways:
  • Transportation assistance (great way to meet the actors!)
  • Cast parties
  • Ushering
  • Distributing posters and brochures
  • Helping with special events
  • Supporting our interns through "adopt-an-intern"
  • Backstage tours
  • Providing food for strike weekends
  • Assistance with the costume sale and silent auction
